Why it's called Hercules:

The C-130 Hercules has been in continuous production since 1954, longer than any military aircraft ever built. It lands on dirt, gravel, and ice. It hauls cargo, drops troops, flies medevac, fights wildfires, and flies into hurricanes on purpose. It was never the biggest airframe on the ramp and it was never the fastest. It was the one that always showed up.
